I just returned from a very well attended Cenotaph ceremony in Maple Ridge this year despite the drizzle of rain and he sea of umbrellas.
It struck me as I watched the sombre crowd that those there in attendance fell into 3 categories:
The young who were trying to understand,
The Middle Aged who never had to understand,
And the Old who understood only too well,
And then there were those with something better to do...
This year my thoughts during the moment of silence went out to a colleague of mine from Keller Williams Results Realty, Trevor Street. Private Street is a reservist with the Cdn Armed Forces as has already done a 6 month deployment to Afghanistan.
Trevor is 23 years old and a hell of a good and succesful Realtor in our area, he is selflessly re-deploying voluntarily to Afghanistan for 1 1/2 years, puting his career oh hold and his life at risk for his comrades and his country. In speaking to him he feels he needs to go back as an experienced soldier to help those that are not.
Be safe Trevor, your in our thoughts and prayers.

Every Remembrace Day that I recall, is rainy. I can count on needing my umbrella at the cenotaph, as I did today. Your friend is in my thoughts - thanks for sharing about him.
